EPC CONTRACT SIGNED

BETWEEN FANGDA GROUP NHI CHINA AND PIBT PAKISTAN

On 1st Mar, 2020, the EPC contract for Port Pakistan Qasim PIBT Terminal Expansion from Jetty to Terminal Project between Northern Heavy Industries Group Co., Ltd under Liaoning Fangda Group and Pakistan Bulk Terminal Limited were officially signed. The total contract is expected to reach 30 million U.S. dollars. This is also the second contract with PIBT after phase I contract signed 5 years ago.

SINCERITY TO WIN BACK OPPORTUNITY

Compared with 5 years ago, the bid is full of a twist and turn. As the core backbone company in the field of heavy machinery manufacturing in China, NHI products are exported to more than 50 countries and regions in the world, and have created brilliant market performance. But since 2018, Due to outdated development concepts, backward operating mechanisms, heavy historical burdens and huge debt burdens, the survival and development of the company is difficult, the morale of the workforce is low, and performances of many projects have problems. During the implementation of phase I, there were delays and some quality issues. On April 30, 2019, in accordance with the relevant spirit of the Party Central Committee and the State Council to promote the revitalization of Northeast China and deepen the reform of state-owned enterprises, under the correct leadership and vigorous promotion of the Liaoning Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial Government, and the Shenyang Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, NHI successfully completed judicial reform and mixed ownership reform. Liaoning Fangda Group became the largest shareholder of the company in accordance with the law. The heavy historical burden and debt problems of the past have been completely resolved through reforms, and NHI has entered a new era. NHI combined measures to fully mobilize the enthusiasm of employees and give full play to equipment capacity and launched a "trustworthy Project", corporate new look.

In this context, NHI immediately established a team to promote the project. Confronted by the user's requirements, Kang Shi, the deputy general manager of NHI 1stInternational Company, responded positively and lead the team to eliminate customers’concern by reasonable solutions and breakthroughs. In 2 months’time, relying on the strength of Fangda Group, rectification issues in Phase I were completed. At the same time, the team shows the users with actions to present the changes since reorganization. In November 2019, PIBT team revisited NHI, which greatly reversed the original impressions of NHI. NHI team, with strong execution, active enthusiasm and professionalism attitude has regained the trust of users and won the qualification for bidding.

PROFESSIONALISM TO GAIN TRUST

In order to consolidate the good image and further fight for the initiative in the project bidding, the company sent Kang Yu as project manager to PIBT site for comprehensive service. Prior to engaging in marketing work, Kang Yu had 6 years of technical work experience, and worked as a project manager for 4 years at the construction site. In the technical and marketing integration reform in November 2019, he took up a marketing position. With technical advantages, after meticulous site investigation and detailed communication with users, a set of cost-effective solutions for users has been fully affirmed by users. He continued for three days and nights to refine the schematic plan. In the end,due to the lower overall cost of the plan and reasonable conveying route selection, less difficult overall construction, and huge advantages in various aspects, NHI defeated two major competitors from Pakistan and one state-owned enterprise and one well-known private company from China, successfully won the bid and reached a win-win situation with the user with a strong technical reserve.

TECHNICAL SERVICE TO PROVE STRENGTH

It is worth mentioning that in this bid, the construction plan of NHI is very challenging. In order to complete user requirements and make the greatest efforts to increase the production capacity, the plan proposes a belt conveyor on the existing cross-sea trestle, which is 2.5 kilometers in length and 3.2 meters in width. It is difficult to imagine to reserve a 3.1-meter-wide carriage way meanwhile a conveying route at the same place. In difficult times, project team absorbed the technical backbones from civil, construction, mechanical and electrical departments in order to form a temporary expert group, and worked continuously around the clock. Under the premise of fully studying the geological survey, it took only 2 months to come up with a scientific and reasonable solution, providing a strong guarantee for the project bid.

With the project into operation, it will serve the infrastructure construction of power plants and cement plants in Pakistan. It is expected that the production capacity will be doubled. This project will effectively support Pakistan's domestic economic construction and improve the living standards of its people. NHI will spare no effort to continue to equip countries along the Belt and Road Initiative countries and contribute to international community for a better future.
